Philosophy of Education
The goal of Great Bridge Christian Academy is to help parents raise their children to fulfill the will of God in their lives. The academy does not implement the progressive form of education that emphasizes:
• Questioning the answers • The innate goodness of man
The suppressiveness of discipline • The relativity of all things (including morals)
• Omitting God and His Word from the educational process
We believe Christian Education is a mandate from God (Matt. 28:18-20; Prov. 22:6; Deut. 6:6-9). Great Bridge Free Will Baptist Church started the academy a decade ago to help families who seek to raise children in the admonition of God’s Word. Biblical principles are incorporated into every subject.
The G.B.C.A. staff are fully qualified and maintain high academic and spiritual standards. Students at the academy are taught to honor parents and honor God’s Word. The students are taught from a traditional approach that includes the following strategy:
• The teacher is in charge of the classroom.
• The teacher is responsible for discipline (not corporal punishment) to each child.
• The homework is assigned regularly and is expected to be completed on time.
• God’s Word is Truth. Our textbooks are God-centered, teaching spiritual truths,
morality, and patriotism.
• Drill work and memorization are key tools in instruction.
• The teacher is professional in manner, but servant minded in heart.
• True learning takes place in the following order:
- Control - Communication
- Learning
- Positive reinforcement
- Rules and standards are not obsolete and out dated.
G.B.C.A. students excel in a spiritually structured setting that encourages academic success. We encourage everyone to pray and determine the best place for your child to receive a Godly education. Of course, we hope it is God’s will for you to partner with G.B.C.A. in the near future.
